Gillane Seaborn, Chief Executive and Creative Director
With 25 years television experience working for all the major networks in the UK and US, Gillane established Midnight Oil Productions in April 2012 and has already won commissions from the BBC, WGBH, PBS, BBC America, BBC Worldwide, Pop Girl and the Starz Network.
Over the years Gillane has worked on some of TV’s biggest brands and with both actors and presenters to create both stand alone shows and companion series. Gillane’s background is in factual entertainment, factual and lifestyle shows and she has run TV teams both in the UK and abroad having filmed as far a far afield as Lapland, Sri Lanka, and Nicaragua, and has overseen complex projects and multipart returning series.
Before establishing Midnight Oil, Gillane set up and ran the BBC’s Additional Programming Unit, creating companion shows for the BBC’s biggest dramas. Shows included the award winning series Doctor WhoConfidential and Merlin Secrets and Magic for BBC3 and, 2 series of Torchwood Declassified for BBC2, along with feature shows on Upstairs Downstairs and Sherlock and a landmark Shakespeare series for BBC2 in co-production with the RSC.
Prior to this, Gillane produced shows in the UK for the BBC and some of the UK’s leading indies, including Lion TV, Talkback Thames, Endemol, Catalyst TV, Ragdoll, GMTV and Grundy Television and in the US for PBS Network, ABC, and WNET.
