Richard Parsons, Chief Operating Officer, International Production, Sony Pictures Television
Richard is Chief Operating Officer at Sony Pictures Television's International Production division. He oversees all operational and commercial matters affecting the group’s portfolio of 20 production companies across 12 territories. He is also responsible for assessing new deals including acquisitions, investments and first-look deals.
In the UK, SPT's scripted portfolio includes Left Bank Pictures, producer of the Golden Globe-winning Netflix Original The Crown, Blueprint Television and Fable Pictures. More recently, SPT has invested in Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Stolen Picture and Eleventh Hour Films, producer of the up-coming Alex Rider series. On the non-scripted side, it includes Electric Ray, producer of My Million Pound Menu and Belfast-based Stellify Media, responsible for C5's reboot of Blind Date and Flinch, Netflix’ first non-scripted commission in the UK. SPT's format portfolio includes Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Wheel of Fortune and Dragons’ Den.
Richard spent several years at BBC Worldwide as Director of Corporate Finance and Legal, working across all of their business lines, including the launch of its Content and Production Division. He was also part of the team who set up Greenbird Media in 2012 prior to joining SPT
