Andrew Eastel, Creative Director, Middlechild Productions

In 2011, having worked as a producer/director of unscripted content for a number of years, Andrew invested money from the distribution of a feature documentary he directed into setting up his own production company. After a couple of years experiencing the highs and lows of running an indie, he met David Sumnall in 2014. Realising they shared a similar vision, both creatively and in business, Andrew joined David’s company, Middlechild Productions, to help produce new content and lead development. He now holds the position of Creative Director and oversees all of the company's output.

Middlechild is a wholly independent production company with offices in London and, as of 2019, Brighton, where the majority of post-production is completed in-house. They produce factual content for both UK and international broadcasters including Channel 5, Channel 4, Discovery Networks, ITV, Sky 1 and MTV.

To date, alongside numerous single documentaries, Middlechild has secured eight series orders from Channel 5 for their Dog Rescuers brand, presented by Alan Davies. The company delivered a second series of Jo Brand’s Cats and Kittens in 2018, also Channel 5, and a six-part series for Channel 4, Animal Rescue School. A new 10 x 1hr wildlife series for the Discovery Network was also delivered last year, plus 20 x 1hrs for Channel 5’s '5 Select' channel.
